The Australian Building Codes Board

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) is a joint initiative of all three levels of government in Australia and includes representatives from the building and construction industry, and the plumbing industry. The ABCB is a Council of Australian Governments (COAG) standards writing body that is responsible for the National Construction Code (NCC) which comprises the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA).

The ABCB mission is to address issues of life, safety, health, amenity and sustainability in the design, construction and performance of buildings. It is also a regulatory reform vehicle for COAG.

The ABCB has two primary technical advisory committees, the Building Codes Committee (BCC) and the Plumbing Code Committee (PCC). These Committees play an active role in assisting the Board in meeting its obligations.
